At around 7 am on May 9, about 100 soldiers from Sin Chaung Pyu Saw Htee village were ambushed by rebel forces north of Nyaung village, and the fighting lasted for about an hour and a half. The rebel forces managed to shoot down a reconnaissance drone in the fighting, and 27 soldiers were killed and 30 wounded, according to Ko Aung Maung, head of the Southern YSO PDF group.
“Their arrival coincided with our arrival. The match happened. We fired one drone at the first, then one at the M4, and the drone caught fire and crashed. According to our information, 27 people were killed and about 30 injured on the Kwan side,” said Ko Aung Maung. During the fighting, one Southern YSO PDF soldier was killed and about 10 others were injured.
After the fighting, the military regime bombed the village of Resa Kyaw Nel Thaew with two paramotors, killing one civilian and damaging houses. The military regime’s attack was carried out jointly by the Southern YSO PDF, Yesagyo Revolution Group (YRG), Daung Nyi Naung, Pyithu Aman PDF, King Cobra, Daung Sitthya Group and BNRA.
