The Military Council and the Chin revolutionary forces have been fighting for almost a month on the Kalay-Tedim road in Chin State, and the military council has suffered heavy casualties and has only managed to travel 15 miles, according to local PDFs sources. The Military council, which has a force of more than 500 people, including a strategic commander, entered Chin State from Kalay on May 20.
The fighting has been going on for almost a month on the Kalay-Tedim road until June 17, and the Military council forces have suffered heavy casualties and have not been able to advance any further, and have only reached 15 miles from Kalay, according to a revolutionary comrade.
“There are clashes on that side almost every day. The military council has casualties. The military council is also replenishing its forces. It is more than half an hour by motorbike from Kalay Myo to Taingen, and now it is not possible to advance there. It can be advanced about 15 miles. They are retreating and advancing,” said the comrade.
The Military council has suffered casualties during the nearly month-long battle, and there are also those who have been captured by the military council. The Military council is sending reinforcements to Tedim and Falam, but it is not yet clear which townships it wants to advance to.
Currently, the Military council troops are firing artillery from Kalay Myo University on the Kalay-Tedim highway, and a military source is also adding manpower to the 9 Mile military council checkpoint near the Khai Kam police station. “There is some artillery fire from Kalay University. There is also fighting in the industrial zone,” said the military source.
Due to the ongoing fighting, more than 3,000 people from the towns and villages of Hiangzing, Mualpi, Theizang, Khai Kam, and Taingen along the Kalay-Tedim highway, as well as the Hlaing Tharyar Ward, Kalay Industrial Zone Ward, and along the Kyauk Gu Road in the foot hills of Kalay, have fled to the forests and mountains, and have not yet returned to their homes, aid workers said.
“They are also fleeing the war zone. They are completely avoiding Hlaing Tharyar Ward, Khai Kam Ward, and the entire Kalay-Tedim highway,” some aid workers said. In Chin State, the Chin Revolutionary Forces have captured Falam, Mindat, Kan Petlet, Matupi, Tonzang, CiKha, Rih khaw dar, Lailenpi, Kyin Dwe, Ma Kui Ein Nu, Naring, Rihyua, Wai Bula, the cities of Surkhwar and Sami have been captured and controlled, while Paletwa and Sami have been captured and controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).
Currently, only four Military council camps remain in Hakha, Thantlang, Khai Kam, and Tedim, and the Chin State Revolutionary Forces have stated that they will work to rid Chin State of Military councils as soon as possible.
