The military council is preparing for war to regain the lost Chin State town of Mindat, and is also preparing for a military offensive to prevent the retake of Chin State town of Tedim, said Chin Brotherhood (CB) spokesman Salai Yaw Mang. At a press conference held by Chin Brotherhood (CB) on June 18, Salai Yaw Mang responded to a question from the media about the military.
In his response, he explained the clashes with the Military council troops that advanced in large numbers from Kalaymyo, Sagaing Region, into Chin State, and the preparations to attack the Military council troops that advanced in large numbers from Pakokku, Magway Region. Clashes were reported near Mualpi village, Tedim Township, with the military that advanced into Chin State from Kalay in the third week of May.
Salai Yaw Mang said that the Chin resistance movement was resisted jointly by the Chin Brotherhood (CB) and Chinland Council (CC), and also by non-CB and CC groups, and non-member revolutionary groups, and all of them were involved in joint defense and fighting. The area where the fighting took place was the main area of activity of the CDF Siyin, and the PDF Zoland, CNDF, CDF-KKG, Kalay District Battalion (4), and CNA were involved in the defense and fighting.
He explained that he had not said anything because the Chin Brotherhood and Chinland Council had initially agreed to jointly publish military news. He said that there were casualties during the fighting, that the combined revolutionary forces had achieved successes and seized weapons, and that there were also those who had escaped from the military.
“This is a military line advancing north of Chin State. There is a close battle in Mualpi village. The military council is now in Mualpi village. It has not advanced further. There has been little contact these days,” Salai Yaw Mang said. He said that the reason the military line has not advanced is because the military council is losing ground or is it simply resupplying.
If the line advances, it will reach Taingen village, and if it turns right from the junction town of Taingen, it will reach Tedim, and if it turns left, it will reach Falam. Falam was captured by the Chin Brotherhood this year. Salai Yaw Mang said that the Military council is also launching an offensive in southern Chin State.
At the end of May this year, 126 military vehicles from the 101st Pakokku Division of Magway Region left and are currently in the area. “Paramotors and aircraft are coming out along the line, bombing them,” he said. The army has already arrived and is preparing to attack Pakk Township, between Pakokku and Mindat, if it continues to advance, it will reach Pauk Township.
The military council is said to be looking for additional forces to make up for lost territory. “Our towns have been liberated, but we are preparing without any effort,” said Salai Yaw Mang. The Chin Brotherhood have occupied the towns of Kyin Dwey, Matupi, Mindat, Kanpetlet, and Falam, and will also make the remaining Tedim free from the military council.
“Since all Chin Brotherhood areas have been liberated, after Chin Brotherhood, we need to look at the scale of Chin State as a whole. We need to work on how we can help liberate Hakha and Thantlang. Then, the Chin Brotherhood areas, other areas connected to Chin State, such as Magway and Sagaing, and the Myaung region, we need to work on how to continue the revolution and how to cooperate to make the military council free from the military council,” said Salai Yaw Mang.
