At least 30 Military Council soldiers were killed, battalion commander and deputy battalion commander seriously injured, and large quantities of weapons seized in Kawkareik-Kyondo road clash in Karen State, a Mon Liberation Army spokesperson said.
On June 19, 2025 the Military Council -affiliated 44th and 55th Divisions, which were advancing to support Aung Ze Yah’s column through Kyundo town in Karen State, clashed with the column. The battle lasted for more than 7 hours, and the 2IC Major, including the battalion commander, was injured during the battle. At least 30 soldiers were killed and large quantities of weapons seized from the Military Council soldier.
The weapons seized from the Military Council soldier included MA 1, It is reported that MA 2 weapons, RPG artillery and RPG bombs, RPG ammunition, 60 mm heavy weapons, various ammunition boxes, various bullets, bulletproof helmets, and other weapons and military equipment were seized. “We will tell you the exact number of weapons when we are allowed to release them,” said a spokesperson for the Mon Liberation Army.
Similarly, at 10 am today, June 21, the Revolutionary Joint Force began shelling four areas in Kyundo with heavy weapons, which the military council troops returned fire. In addition, vehicles carrying ammunition from Hpa-an also entered Kyundo from the Thamanya and Kawdabet directions.
“At 10:00 am today, the revolutionary side started firing heavy weapons at 4 targets of the military council, and the military council is also firing back. Then at 10:00 am, reinforcements and ammunition trucks from Hpa-an came from the Thamanya Kawdabet side to Jaing and Kyundo. They were carrying 6 green Tarpulin (Talapat) bags, 2 ammunition trucks,” the revolutionary source said.
The operation is being led by the KNLA and involves allied forces including the RMA Mon Army and PDF troops. The revolutionary forces have surrounded Kyundo town and have urged the people to go out of the town and join the revolutionary joint forces and seek refuge in the arms of the people.
