On June 22, 2025 at around 4 p.m., Military council plane bombed the Khaikam Elephant Camp, a recreation camp about 5 miles from Khaikam town in Tedim Township, Chin State, killing a 16-years old elephant herder and seriously injuring a woman. The nearby Kuailui (Kuai Bridge) was not damaged, according to local residents.

“Yesterday evening, a plane was seen flying over Khaikam Town. Not long after, we heard explosions. We don’t know where it fell,” said a Khaikam local resident. “The time to go to Kalaymyo will be closed, so the body and the patient were sent to Pimpih village. The body was buried on the morning of June 23. The injured woman had bullet fragments in her leg, so the villagers carried her on a stretcher to a good road to take her to the Kalaymyo Public Hospital,” said a local resident.

The deceased young man had gone out to work alone, and he was trying to contact his parents, but he could not get through. Regarding the news that the suspension bridge over the Kuailui (Kuai river) on the road used as the Kalay – Tedim road was damaged due to the current military situation, a tourist said, “The bridge was not damaged and it is usable. I myself crossed the suspension bridge and came down to Kalaymyo.”

Khaikam Elephant Camp, a recreation camp at the foot of the Chin Hills mountain, is located about 5 miles from KhaiKam town near the suspension bridge over the Sigyi river, also known as the Kuailui (Kuai river), and was a popular tourist destination before the political conflict.
