Norwegian arms company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace (KDA) signed an agreement in Kiev on June 22 to develop and produce NASAMS anti-missile missiles in Ukraine, the defense ministries of the two countries announced.

A high-level delegation led by Norwegian Defense Minister Tor Sandvik and the Norwegian Chief of Defense arrived in Kiev and held talks with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umerov and the Ukrainian Chief of Defense.

Following the talks, a contract was signed between Norwegian Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace (KDA) and the Ukrainian Defense Industry Company for the development and production of NASAMS missiles, the statement said.

Press releases state that the NASAMS missiles to be produced in Ukraine will be less expensive and feature more advanced technology than the missiles currently in use.
