A Maoist resistance force official said that the revolutionary forces have captured 6 terrorist military camps in Mawlaik Township, Mawlaik District, Sagaing Region, during the nearly 2-month long operation “Operation Eagle” and have captured a large amount of prisoners of war and large amounts of ammunition.
During the “Operation Eagle” that began in the first week of August, the revolutionary forces based in Mawlaik District have captured 6 military camps in Mawlaik Township, including Htawtha, Taung-in, Nyaung wun, Napin, Awzi Khon, and Naungpein villages. The revolutionary forces began capturing the Htawtha village military camp on August 15 and captured 4 members of the military council, including Pyu Saw Htee leader Ko Ae Pan, and more than 190 members of Pyu Saw Htee’s family.
In addition, two days later, on August 18, the revolutionary forces captured two more soldiers under the 88th Division from the terrorist column. Similarly, one militiaman was captured alive when the revolutionary forces attacked and captured Awzi Khon village. The military regime also carried out airstrikes when the revolutionary forces captured Htaw Tha camp and Nar Pin camp.
The “Operation Eagle” carried out in August and September was carried out by the Maoist revolutionary forces, namely the 4 district battalions (1, 2, 3, and 4), the Maoist and Phong Pyin Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), the People’s Security Force (PSF), and the District Command Office Combat Team, and there were victories and casualties.
“During the operation, our side launched attacks, and their side launched counterattacks. But they were repelled,” an official from Battalion 3 in the Mawlaik district told to Media. Currently, the terrorist groups are stationed in the villages of Camp Military, Sut Nang and Ton Pin, forcing civilians to flee.
“We can say that it is a two-month operation. After the camp was taken over, those who fled fled to camp military village and prepared for defense,” a Maoist rebel official told to Social Media. In addition, while the rebel forces were fighting to take over the camp, there were also rebel forces who took refuge in the rebel forces, taking weapons.
