A Military Council Army checkpoint on the Pathein-Monywa road in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Division was attacked and 4 SAC soldiers and 6 weapons were seized, said Ko Aung Ba, the press and information officer of the 7th Battalion (People Defense Force – Pwintbyu) of Minbu District.
At around 5 pm on October 4, the People Defense Force attacked the Military counlcil army checkpoint on the Mezali-Sitaw suspension bridge on the Pathein-Monywa road in Pwintbyu Township. The exchange of fire lasted for about 1 hour and 30 minutes and the checkpoint was captured. During the battle to capture the checkpoint, 4 soldiers, 6 weapons, ammunition and military equipment were seized.
“There were only about 10 people at the gate. It took about 1.5 hours to defend from the bunker, and reinforcements did not arrive. Only 4 bodies were found. The rest of the soldiers abandoned their weapons and fled, leaving 6 with weapons. All our troops are safe. Currently, the soldiers have taken up positions at that gate,” said the 7th PDF Battalion of Minbu District.
The attack was carried out jointly by the 7th Battalion of Minbu District, the 4th Battalion of Minbu District, and the 4th Battalion of Pwint Phyu Township PDF, with heavy weapons provided by the 4th Battalion of Minbu District. The 7th Battalion of Minbu District has appealed to the public to follow the road rules and regulations issued by relevant organizations and to stay away from Military council convoys if they come across them.
