KIA joint forces have retaken at least 5 military positions in Bhamo town, Kachin State, and are conducting counter-offensive operations, a KIA frontline source said. It is reported that KIA joint forces retaken some positions in Bhamo town that were occupied by the military on October 8 and October 9 and may launch counter-offensive operations.

“We have captured the outposts near the 47th Battalion. We have also captured three outposts of the army near the Thar Si Golf Course, 2 miles away. We have recovered a list of dead war dogs and ammunition. They have retreated. In Bhamo, we have advanced, they have retreated. They have advanced, they have retreated. Now, we are starting a counter-offensive,” a KIA frontline source said.

KIO/KIA spokesman Colonel Naw Bu said that there is daily fighting in Bhamo, with the military mainly attacking with airstrikes and high-tech drones, while on the ground, KIA troops are trying to regain control. The military is issuing propaganda that it has gained control of Bhamo, but in reality, the military is only fighting from the 21st KLA base.

A source on the frontline of the revolution said that the entire city of Bhamo could be controlled by the revolutionary forces. The battle to capture Bhamo has been waged by the KIA-affiliated forces since December 2024 and has now lasted for more than 11 months.
