Around 300 residents in Paletwa Township, Shinletwa District, Chin State, controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), have been infected with severe diarrhea, and 30 of them are receiving medical treatment as inpatients, the ULA/AA Public Health Department reported. The diarrhea disease was initially transmitted through the villages of Khaki, Tuitin, and Longtin in Longlai District, India, which border Paletwa Township, Chin state and the current inpatients are recovering.

An emergency response team has been formed to provide medical treatment and disease control to those infected with severe diarrhea in collaboration with local organizations, NGOs/CSOs in Paletwa District, the ULA/AA Public Health Department said. In addition, the areas adjacent to Paletwa District are being vaccinated against severe diarrhea, Awareness campaigns are ongoing and will continue until the infection rate is completely eliminated.

Since November 4, disease control and prevention activities have been carried out, and the number of new cases has now dropped to less than 5 percent, indicating a decrease in the transmission rate, according to the ULA/AA Public Health Department. A diarrhea disease outbreak has occurred in Kaki village of Longtlai district of Mizoram since early November, killing a total of five residents and displaced persons, according to local reports in Mizoram.
