The Central Mizo Youth Association (CYMA), the largest civil society organization in Mizoram, said during a meeting with officials from the Union Home Ministry that it does not want the border fence between India and Myanmar.
Central Mizo Youth Association (CYMA) President Pu R. Lalngheta, Vice President Prof. Lalnuntluanga, Secretary Prof. Malsawmliana and Treasurer H Duhkima met Union Home Ministry Secretary Govind Mohan in New Delhi on January 27 to discuss the border fence plan, Vanglaini reported.
When asked about the plan to fence the India-Myanmar border, especially between Mizoram and Chin, CYMA expressed its opposition to the fence, saying that it would harm the blood unity and friendship of the Chin (Zo) people.
In addition, the Mizoram State Assembly has already passed a resolution opposing the plan to fence the India-Myanmar border. In addition, CYMA has submitted a report to the Union Home Secretary of India stating that Mizoram has lost a lot of territory in terms of the fence along the Mizoram-Bangladesh border.
