Seven people, including monks and a monk who were preparing to offer alms, were killed in a military council airstrike on Thisaye Kone village monastery in Tansi Township, Sagaing Region, according to officials and local residents of Monywa Revolution.

At around 10 a.m. on February 5, a military jet fighter bombed Thisaye Kone village monastery in Tansi Township. The army’s bombing killed monks and people who were eating alms inside the monastery. After the army bombed the area, local residents found only the bodies of one monk and four people, and the search for the remaining two bodies is ongoing.

“We know that the military dropped bombs on the monastery in Thisaye Kone village while the monks were preparing to eat alms. Seven people were killed. Only five bodies have been found. Two more are still missing,” said a local resident. Similarly, on February 2, the military council dropped a 200-pound bomb on Kawtet village in the western part of Tansi Township, damaging three public houses in the village.
