The Military Commission Army conducted an airstrike on Mi Ae village in Kyaukthu area of Saw Township in Chin-Magway Township, killing 5 local residents, including 2 children, and damaging several homes, according to local sources. At around 4:50 pm on February 5, the Military Commission Army dropped two 500-pound bombs on Mi Ae village in the eastern part of Kyaukthu district without any fighting, according to the Magway Air Force.
The airstrike killed two girls aged 10 and 13, a woman in her 70s, and two women aged 50 and 40, and injured two women. About 40 local homes were damaged, with five completely destroyed.
“There are about 40 houses destroyed in the past week. People are panicking. Some people are afraid to stay in the village for fear of more airstrikes. Last night, some people were sleeping in the forest. The local people are in dire need of assistance due to the airstrikes. Five houses were completely destroyed,” said a local resident from Kyaukthu.
The local people who were hit by the airstrikes are currently in need of assistance, and the local civil society group, Yaw Alin Tan, is preparing to provide assistance, and it has been announced that it will provide assistance.
