The Karen National Union (K.N.U.), Kaw Thu Le Administration Area, Myeik-Dawei District, has captured the “Le Phado (Kyauk Lone Gyi)” outpost, which was re-occupied as a strategic outpost by the Karen National Liberation Army (K.N.L.A.) and the Revolutionary Joint Forces, the KNU announced today.
Starting at 7 a.m. on May 19, the Kyauk Lone Gyi outpost, which has been located in Kyauk Lone Gyi Village, near the Tanintha Yi River in Lemula Township, Myeik-Dawei District, was heavily attacked by the KNLA-led Allied Revolutionary Joint Forces.
Ten days later, at 4:00 PM on May 29, the entire “Le Phado (Kyauk Lone Gyi)” camp was finally captured. The camp was a large camp that had been occupied by the military council’s Coastal Region Military Headquarters, No. 2 Strategic Command for over 20 years.
In June 2024, when the Karen National Liberation Army’s 4th Brigade and the Revolutionary Great Alliance forces attacked and captured the military council’s “Aung Tha Wara Camp”, the Kyauk Lone Gyi strategic camp was abandoned and fled. However, it is reported that the military council’s 433rd Infantry Battalion later re-entered the camp with more than 80 troops as a strategic outpost.
