A People’s Liberation Army (PLA) official said that 10 soldiers were killed and ammunition and equipment were seized in an attack on a military convoy entering Taungtha Township from Mengtharouk-Wellong Road in Mandalay Region.

On May 31, the revolutionary joint forces attacked a 300-strong military convoy entering Taungtha Township from Mengtharouk-Wellong Road in Nyaung U Township. The exchange of fire lasted for about 15 minutes, but the revolutionary troops were able to withdraw without any casualties.

Similarly, on June 1, the revolutionary joint forces attacked the terrorist army column moving east from Tada village, resulting in heavy firefights, killing about 10 members of the military council and capturing some military equipment and ammunition.

“Over 10 enemy soldiers were killed in the two-day battle. The exact number has not been confirmed yet. There is no further fighting at present,” said a PLA official. The attack was carried out by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Popa Guerilla Force (PGF), 21 Bagan Division, Garoun Guerrilla Force, and Myingyan District Battalion 3.
