State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been detained for more than two and a half years since the military coup d’état on February 1, 2021, is creating a military council aimed at endangering her life and getting adequate health care, the National League for Democracy-NLD said today.
Aung San Suu Kyi, who has received the most support from the people and has reached the age of 78, has been arrested by the military leader Min Aung Hlaing as an intermediary in order to maintain her political standing. There are reports that Aung San Suu Kyi’s current health condition is deteriorating because the military council is violating the rights of a political prisoner and not providing accommodation, food and adequate health care.
Therefore, the NLD’s statement stated that if any issues related to the health and life of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi occur, the military council must take full responsibility. The NLD has requested that the UN, international leaders, leaders of neighboring countries, internal and external revolutionary forces, and all other political figures, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, be more vigilant in this situation.
