The Military council troops fired heavy weapons at Konpaw village in Phekhon Township, southern Shan State, on November 27 and 28, killing six people and forcing them to evacuate, according to the Phekhon PDF. On November 27, six people, including two minors, were killed and three others were injured, and on the November 28th, two more people were injured, and they are now being evacuated.
“They are fleeing, and there are more attacks, and there are difficulties in moving, and there are difficulties in food, and they are moving to places they think are safe,” said the head of the Phekhon PDF team that evacuated the people. The military council troops fired at least 15 times with heavy weapons at areas where local people were, not in areas where fighting was taking place.
The Karenni State and southern Shan State have been displaced by the military council’s heavy weapons and air strikes for more than three years, with at least two people displaced, according to displaced people. The majority of those injured and killed by heavy weapons are women, with 25 women and 15 children killed by the military council in 2024, the Karenni Interim Administrative Council (IEC) said on November 25.
