Locals in Tuithang village, Tedim Township, Chin State, held a protest on January 11 demanding the reopening of the Manipur River Bridge, which was closed by the Chin National Army (CNA) and Chinland Council (CC). The closure of the Manipur River Bridge has hampered trade and the social and health activities of the people in Tedim Township, and more than 500 local residents have demanded the immediate reopening of the bridge.
“The bridge, which is used by the public, was closed without informing the public or obtaining their consent. That is why the locals have come together to protest and demand the reopening of the bridge,” a Tedim resident told Tongsan Media. The Manipur River Bridge was closed by the joint forces of the CNA and CC on January 5. In addition, on January 9, the local people of Tedim protested against the CNA/CC joint forces preparing to launch a military operation in Tedim town.
Although the CNA and CC contacted the PDA (Tedim) officials to get a response to the local people’s statements, they did not answer the phone. Currently, due to the PDA (Tedim)’s advance request to move its equipment, the local people are worried that a military operation will take place in Tedim, and thousands of people are leaving the town, and the number is increasing day by day.
