The KIA-led rebels are on the offensive to capture Bhamo town in Kachin State, capturing three battalions, including the 5014th Tank Battalion, and capturing more than 40 junta members, according to KIA and Kachin PDF sources. The 5014th Tank Battalion was captured in early February, and more than 40 junta officers and soldiers were captured alive in the fighting in Bhamo on February 10, according to a KIA source.
“The tank battalion has been captured for a while now. We have not released any information. The currently captured units are the 366th Artillery Battalion, the 6007th Armored Battalion, and the 5014th Tank Battalion,” the KIA source explained. The 21st Battalion, the 236th Battalion, the 47th Battalion, The training and missile battalions remain, and the KIA-led revolutionary forces are still on the offensive.
During the Bhamo battles, more than 60 soldiers from the military council were killed and weapons and ammunition were captured. However, a Kachin PDF source on the front line said that there were casualties on the part of their revolutionary forces.
