The Chin revolutionary forces are calling for people to join and support the battle to capture Falam, a strategic city for the liberation of the entire northern Chin State, including Hakha and Tedim, from the Military council. The Chin revolutionary forces are making this statement as the first battle to capture Falam, which was launched by the Chin Brotherhood in northern Chin State, has been going on for about 5 months. The capture of Falam is crucial for the Chin revolutionary groups to capture the cities of Hakha, Thantlang, and Tedim in northern Chin State, and the Chin revolutionary forces say that Falam is important for the Military council to continue to control northern Chin State.
“Parents and citizens, please join us in our efforts to capture the first battalion-level base in the northern part of Chin State. If this is successful, the battle for Tedim will be easy for us. Hakha and Thantlang will also be easy, because we know that from the beginning, so we are pressing forward with airstrikes. That is why we are close to winning. If God is with us, nothing is impossible. Our comrades are also working hard, so we are in a good situation. In any case, if we move forward together and in harmony, and if each of us contributes in our own way, this battle will be successful,” said Salai William Chin, General Secretary of the Chin National Defense Force (CNO/CNDF).
The battle for Falam is currently facing many challenges, Salai William Chin said at an online fundraising event for the Falam battle. The CNDF secretary said that the military council was able to increase its strength in the battle of Falam thanks to air support, and that it was no longer just one battalion, but three or four battalions. The military council currently has around 200 reinforcements. If the Chin revolutionary forces can capture Falam, it will be easy to liberate the entire northern Chin State. The battle of Falam is an important battle due to its geographical location and must be won completely, so the people should continue to support it and seek support themselves in some way or another, said Chin Nyinaung spokesman Salai Yaw Mang.
“If we take Falam, we can block the Hakha and Thantlang sides, and the Tedim side, and that’s it. Not just Falam, but the entire northern Chin State will be liberated. It is an important place for the revolution, both geographically and in terms of the entire Chin State. That’s why the Military Council is defending it very hard. The military council sent reinforcements. The entire military line was destroyed. They sent more Huskies and reinforcements, etc. They are trying very hard. Both sides are very strong here,” said Ko Yaw Mang.
The CDF, the Chin people, is also preparing to reinforce its forces, Ko Yaw Mang said at an online fundraising event for the battle to capture Falam on March 23. In Falam, the Chin joint force was able to capture some of the remaining points of the military council’s last remaining battalion, Battalion 268. Tham Chun Pye, a military officer in charge of the Chin Brotherhood group and the commander-in-chief of the CDF, also urged everyone to continue to support the military as the fighting continues.
“As everyone knows, the operation to capture Falam township was very difficult, with more than 100 airstrikes per day. But we will never back down. We will continue to carry out our operations as we have to. We are not people who will give up. Everyone should support us and our parents and the people should support us financially,” said Htan Chun Pye. Since March 11, the Military council has been carrying out heavy bombing raids daily, including 500-pound bombs, using jet fighters, Y8 and Y12 aircraft, and Mi-35 aircraft.
Starting from November 9, 2024, the Chin State and the revolutionary forces launched an offensive on Falam town, capturing all the Military Council camps in the town and attacking and encircling the last remaining battalion, the 268th Battalion. There were many casualties on the military council in the battle of Falam, and there were reports that the commander and deputy commander of the 268th Battalion were also killed in the battle.
