Under the name of Operation Rung, the CDF Hakha and the Chin National Army (CNA) launched a joint battle to capture the Kiamtlang camp on the Hakha-Thangtlang road near Hakha on October 28, 2024.

CDF Hakha announced that 15 soldiers of the Military council were killed and 4, including a major, were captured in the battle to capture the camp. In addition, he informed that he received 9 different weapons and ammunition from the military council. The seized weapons are 5 MA1, 1 MA2, 2 MA3, 1 MA11 and ammunition. CDF Hakha has issued a statement that it will continue to fight with the revolutionary forces for the eradication of the dictatorship and the emergence of a federal democratic union, requesting the public to cooperate.

It was not revealed whether the Chin joint forces were the most affected during the battle to capture the camp. A Chin news source said yesterday that there were no casualties from the Chin joint forces during the battle. On the other hand, the joint army of the Chinland Council is attacking to capture Thantlang town completely, the source said that the military council army has reinforced many forces and attacked with air support, so the fighting is still going on in Thantlang town.

Chin Media source said that the military council army had regained some of the areas held by the Chin joint forces between Thantlang and Hakha township, and the military council army’s reinforcement column was able to join the rest of the military council army in Thantlang town.

“But there is a rumor that they can regain control of Thantlang. We still have control over the Thantlang military council camp. They launched an offensive to regain control. We fought back. We haven’t succeeded yet. Then they didn’t deploy on Thantlang town. The two places where they were stationed were the police station and the NLD office. They went to join us there. This kind of fighting happens almost every day,” Chin source said.

They were able to seize 5 of the 7 Military Council camps in Thantlang town, but later there were attacks by military helicopters and military reinforcements, so some camps had to be surrendered, he said. A resident of Hakha town said that although there was a fight 2 days ago, on Tuesday, October 29, the fighting in Hakha town was calm. Currently, 90 percent of Thantlang town is still controlled by the Chin Joint Force of the Chinland Council, the source said.
