KIA soldiers have again visited the site of the helicopter crash site where the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) shot down a helicopter and found more bodies of SAC members in the burning wreckage, a source said. The KIA shot down three SAC helicopters that were coming to Bhamo on May 20, destroying two of them. One crashed in the forest about 15 miles from Shweku. The KIA also attacked and destroyed another that made an emergency landing in Shweku on May 21.
Yesterday, KIA and KPDF soldiers visited the site of the helicopter crash in the forest and found the body of a captain-level officer from the military council air force next to the burning helicopter, and today, they visited again and found 16 more bodies of military council members among the burning helicopter wreckage, the source said.
Online social media sources also showed a video clip of KIA soldiers visiting the helicopter crash site, in which a soldier can be heard counting the bodies of military council members who died in the fire with the helicopter, saying, “There are one, two, three people there, a lot.
” In a video clip of the bodies being counted, a soldier can be heard counting the bodies and saying that there are 16. There are a lot of weapons in the helicopter that burned yesterday,” the Kachin source said. The video footage of the burnt wreckage of the crashed helicopter also showed at least 14 pieces of heavy and small arms collected.
“There are still a lot of guns left,” a comrade can be heard saying on the video. KIA Press Office Chief Colonel Naw Bu also said that KIA comrades had visited the helicopter wreckage again this afternoon and were still asking for details.
