The Military Council troops that have regained control of the Taingen – Tedim road in Tedim Township, Chin State, have stepped on mines in Taingen village, killing 7 and seriously injuring at least 17, according to the Frontline CDF-CDM Siyin news. The Military Council troops, which advanced along the Taingen – Tai ngen road from Tedim Township, entered Taingen village on the evening of November 9 and stepped on mines planted by the CDF – CDM Siyin, killing 7 and seriously injuring at least 17.
“The Military Council that advanced from Tedim has crossed the Tedim – Taingen road. It has been regained control. The Military council reached Taingen village yesterday evening. There, we found that 7 Military council members were killed when they stepped on mines planted by our CDF – Civic Defense Militia – Siyin (CDF – CDM Syin). At least 17 others were injured,” said CDF – CDM Siyin.
The Military Council, which has more than 100 troops, has currently set up camp in Taingen village and has not yet advanced further. It is understood that the local people of Taingen village have been fleeing to safe villages since November 9 due to the arrival of the Military council troops.
In addition, due to the ongoing fighting in Tedim Township, Chin State more than 2,000 villagers from Taingen, Theizang, Mualpi, Vomsem, Suahlim, Bekan, and Akluai villages are in need of emergency food supplies, according to the local Chin Civil Defense Militia (CDF) – Siyin.
“The villagers had already evacuated before the Military council entered the area. When the Military council arrived yesterday, none of the villagers were there. Now the Military council has set up camp around Taingen village,” he said. The military council controls the Te Tin-Taing Ngin road, but the Tai Ngin-Kalay road is still under the control of the CDF-CDM Syin.
From October 29 to November 6, daily clashes broke out between the Military council and the Chin Brotherhood (CB) forces that entered the area, resulting in 40 deaths on the Military council side and the capture of some weapons and prisoners of war, the Chin Brotherhood forces said on November 7. In addition, the PDF – Zoland force announced that it was able to rescue 14 civilians, including a woman who was raped by the advancing Military council troops.
