The KNU is pursuing a deputy battalion commander of the military council who escaped during a battle to capture the SAC Talee military base near the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State. Nine soldiers, including a captain, were killed and weapons and ammunition were seized in the battle to capture the base, the KNU central office reported.
At 7 p.m. on May 13, the 2025 Karen National Liberation Army (K.N.L.A.) and the Karen National Defense Army (K.N.D.A.) recaptured the Tanya Kyu (@) Talee military base, where the 24th Military Council Battalion and the 311th Artillery Battalion were based, near the Thai-Myanmar border in the KNU-administered area.
During the capture of the camp, 9 members of the military council, including a captain from the terrorist military council artillery, were killed, and the deputy commander of the 24th Battalion escaped, and the revolutionary forces are currently pursuing the escaped members of the military council.
The Ta Le camp that the KNU recaptured was built by the Burmese army in 1986, and since the time they started building it, the people of the surrounding villages have lost their freedom to move around, work, and eat. The KNU central said that since the camp was recaptured, the surrounding villages will be able to work, eat, and eat as before.
This morning, KNU troops also began attacking the Maw Po Kay military camp, located 1 kilometer away from the Thai-Myanmar border, and 414 local residents have fled to the Thai side.
