A local man in New Suangpi village, Tedim Township, Chin State, lost both legs after stepping on a landmine on January 25. The man who stepped on the landmine was identified as 38-year-old Pa Khuang Tin Mang. He stepped on the landmine at the top of the village when he was returning from a military evacuation to check on his home, according to locals.

The entire village of New Suangpi has been on the run since January 20 as the military council troops from Kalemyo, Sagaing Region, have been advancing towards Falam – Taingen. “The soldiers continued from the village towards Falam, so we looked back at our homes. We wondered if we could go back, what had happened? We were walking like that when we reached the top of the village, we stepped on a landmine. My left leg was severed below the knee, and my right hand was injured,” said a local.

Falam Township, On January 26, fierce fighting broke out between the Military council troops and the Chin Revolutionary Joint Forces near Valung and Zawngkawng villages. On December 2, 2025, two local men who were following their cattle were killed after stepping on a mine planted by the military council in Bekan village, Tedim Township.
