About 30 soldiers, including the deputy battalion commander of the 432nd Infantry Regiment, were killed in an attack on a terrorist military column entering Kyongdo township, Kawkareik Township, Karen State, according to an official from the Mon Liberation Army (MLA). Starting at around (7:00am) on April 30, the revolutionary joint forces attacked a terrorist Military Council column that entered Kyongdo township, with about 50 soldiers, near Nwachankon village. The exchange of fire was intense until around (10:00am), and about 30 soldiers, including the deputy battalion commander of the 432nd Infantry Regiment, were killed, and the column was broken and retreated.

“They came from the 546th Infantry Battalion based in Kyundo. After the battle, they retreated to Kyundo,” said an official from the Mon Liberation Army – MLA. The attack was repelled by the Mon State Liberation Army (MLA), the New Mon State Party-Advocate (NMSP-AD), the KNLA-led coalition, and other allied forces, including the Lion Battalion.

The Military Council battalion was composed of soldiers from the Tanintharyi Region Coastal Command, the 22nd Division, and the 44th Division, including the 208th Infantry Battalion (Kyaikmayaw), the 102nd Infantry Battalion (Mohtama), and the 432nd Infantry Battalion (Bohpyin). As fighting continues to rage, the public is urged to listen to military reports near their areas of residence, prepare for the threat of the military council’s heavy weapons and aircraft, and stay in safe areas.
