Fierce fighting is underway between the Military junta troops and allied forces, including the Arakan Army (AA), near Gok Gyi village on the Ann-Padan road in Ngaphe township, Magway Division, according to local residents. The Military junta troops are continuously bombing the camp from the air, preventing it from falling. A local resident said that the fighting has been going on since the morning of January 13 on the Yoma Valley road on the Ann-Padan road, which connects Rakhine State and Magway Division.

“Since yesterday, the junta troops have been sending reinforcements from the Minbu Division (88) with about 20 heavy weapons and people in vehicles. This morning, the air force is continuously bombing,” he added. On January 5, the Arakan Army (AA) and allied forces captured a Chinese natural gas pipeline guard factory and an artillery base in Taung Zauk village. The military council troops then prepared a defense in Gok Gyi village, the locals said.

In addition, the Chin Defense Army (CDA) and the People’s Revolutionary Alliance (PRA) Magway announced that 15 members of the military council who fled from Taung Zauk village and Ann Township on January 4 and 5 were captured along with their weapons.

“We are preparing a defense because we are afraid that the Arakan Army will attack the military council’s Kah Pah Sah (14),” said another local. The military council troops have deployed additional forces near Ngaphe and Shwe Set Taw Pagoda to protect Kah Pah Sah -14 (No. 14 Defense Equipment Factory), and are also engaged in a tense military confrontation with local defense forces, according to locals.
