7 Prisoners of War (POWs) and one Chin National Defense Force (CNDF) soldier were killed in an airstrike by the Military council on the Kuanglung village in Falam township, northern Chin State, where fighting has intensified, on the night of January 4, 2025. The bombings were carried out twice, and the deaths were caused by the bombing of a school where Chin National Defense Force prisoners of war were being held, according to locals and the CNDF.
“The Military Council is not in this village. They are bombing other villages that are not military-related. They are bombing almost every village. It is clear that the Military Council is ruthless in bombing those who surrender,” said Salai Tin Mi Htut, a spokesman for the CNDF.
4 Prisoners of War (POWs) were injured in the airstrike, and the school and infirmary were also damaged, he said. The Chin Brotherhood alliance are continuing to attack the only remaining 268th Battalion base in Falam town, and fighting is fierce. At least 5 villages near Falam town are being evacuated due to airstrikes.
