Months after the complete liberation from the oppressive junta regime, the Chin Defence Force – Mindat (CDF – Mindat) is taking a significant step by allowing local residents to return to their beloved town. However, this comes with strict rules and regulations designed to ensure safety and order in southern Chin State, Myanmar.

CDF – Mindat has established clear guidelines: gatherings are limited to a maximum of ten people, rubbish burning is restricted to the designated hours of 7:00 am to 9:00 am, and celebrations will require prior authorization to preserve community harmony. Moreover, residents are prohibited from leaving their homes during the night from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am except for authorized personnel. These measures aim to foster a secure environment for all.

Crucially, local residents, who have been displaced across many regions, including deep jungles, are required to inform their block administrator, village administrator, or township administrator before planning their return. The new move set out by CDF -Mindat appears to help facilitate a smooth reintegration for local residents into the community.

Mindat town was attacked by CDF-Mindat and allied forces on November 9, 2024, as part of Operation Chin Brotherhood, and was finally captured on December 22, 2024. The CDF-Mindat, which captured Mindat town with its allies, announced on February 9 that people can return to Mindat and the rules to be followed.
