The CDF-Tonzang forces attacked and captured the ZRA Camp in Mualkawi Village, Tonzang Township, Chin State on the morning of June 9, 2025 the CDF-Tonzang said in a statement late last night. Two ZRA members were killed in the fighting, which lasted for about an hour. A car, two drones, seven motorcycles, a generator, four automatic rifles with ammunition, some bullets and other items were also seized.
The ZRA Camp was attacked under the name of the CDF-Tonzang leader and was called “Operation Zo Mumung”. The ZRA attacked Tonzang town twice, starting from Cikha, Singgial, and Mualkawi villages, and frequently broadcasted that they would attack and retake Tonzang town, so the CDF-Tonzang fought in a preemptive manner.
The CDF- Tonzang said it also wanted to recover the bodies of four CDF- Tonzang comrades who had survived the previous battle in Maal Kwe. Last April, the ZRA attacked the CDF -Tonzang town in Tonzang town, which led to fierce fighting. Local houses in Na Zang and Bwein Mul villages were also burned, and the ZRA and CDF -Tonzang exchanged accusations. Currently, Tonzang town is controlled and administered by the CDF -Tonzang.
