PDF groups attacked soldiers guarding a military council convoy on Monywa-Mandalay road, and captured Military Council army bodies and weapons, the Chaung U Township People’s Defense Force (PDF) said. During the clash that broke out at around 7:00am today (October 10), four military council soldiers were ambushed by the revolutionary guerrillas.
It was reported that three bodies of soldiers, four motorcycles, three BA 63 rifles and ammunition were seized during the clash. The clash was jointly fought by the Chaung U Township PDF Combat Unit (CHU PDF) and Special Force 11 (LPDF), and the revolutionary comrades are said to be safe. “The security guard for the convoy coming from Sagaing, whether it is from Sagaing to Namkha or from Namkha to Sagaing, is attacking the security guard,” said a Chaung U PDF official to the public.
This morning, locals said that the military council troops set up checkpoints and are conducting indiscriminate shooting on the Monywa-Mandalay road in Sagaing Division. In addition, locals said that de-mining vehicles have come out of Monywa town. Locals advise travelers to use the road after hearing the news and use it when it is safe.
Since the military council troops are frequently attacked on the Monywa-Mandalay road, they are forcing travelers to drive in front of their vehicles and clear mines. On the full moon night of October 6, the military council bombed the Bonto village lamp lighting ceremony in Chaung U Township, killing 28 people, including children, and injuring more than 40.
