The Military Council troops have been conducting a full-scale offensive to regain control of Falam town, which Chin Brotherhood (CB) has occupied, and fighting has been intense since this morning of November 17, 2025. Chin Brotherhood and Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) soldiers are jointly attacking the Military council troops, said Salai Tin Mi, a spokesman for the Chin Brotherhood.
The Military council troops have been advancing towards Chin State since October 29 after advancing in Kalay South and Kalay North. They have been advancing towards Taingen from Kalay Township and towards Falam Township through Waibula Township, Salai Tin Mi said. “The column started to advance towards Chin State around October 29. The column will be between 400 and 500 strong,” Salai Tin Mi said.
On November 3, the Military council forces were able to retake Weibula and advance towards Falam through Weibula. They left behind about 100 troops and about 300 troops when they came up, and they took up positions in villages on the other side of the Manipur River, about 12 miles from Falam town, Salai Tin Mi said.
“There was some contact from around 8:30 a.m. on November 17. They had been moving since last night, and this morning they tried to cross the Manipur river. That’s when the contact started. We have heard that there have been deaths and other casualties on the military council side,” said Salai Tinmi, adding that he could not confirm the exact number. If the military council troops do not retreat, the fighting will continue to be fierce. The fighting began at around 8:30 am on November 17, and the fighting became fierce. In the afternoon, the army dropped bombs with Y12s and carried out three airstrikes.
“We have done our best to prevent the Chin Brotherhood from advancing on our occupied lands. We have prepared as much as we can. But on the ground, it is not just Chin Brotherhood on the Falam side. On the other hand, the Chinland Council soldiers have also entered and are resisting the initial line. On the ground, everyone is fighting together,” said Salai Tin Mi.
On the other hand, there are Military council troops in the Taingen region, and the Chin Brotherhood group PDF Zoland is defending. “We are resisting the attack as much as we can. There is a possibility that they will also come to Falam to launch an attack,” said Salai Tinmi. In addition, the people of southern Kalay Township have fled to Chin State due to the military council’s attack, and the locals in eastern Falam Township have also fled, so there are tens of thousands of displaced people.
“There are about 3,000 under the age of 10. There are more than 20,000 people, including children and adults, who have fled. It is winter now, so it is very cold. These also need help. Warm clothes, blankets, and food. I would like to ask people from all over the world and Myanmar to come together and help the displaced people if they can,” Salai Tinmi urged. The main needs are medicine, food, blankets, and warm clothes. Those who can help should contact the CNO/CNDF.
