Chin State will not be liberated from any part of the country if Arakan Army (AA) does not attack Paletwa to clear the military council, said Chin Brotherhood spokesman Salai Yawman. Chin Brotherhood (CB) has occupied Kyin Dwe, Matupi, Kanpetlet, Mindat, and Falam townships, and is still conducting operations to capture the Kyant townships.
CB spokesman Salai Yaw Mang said, “If the AA had not attacked all the military council camps and strategic bases in Paletwa, we would not have been able to conduct military operations anywhere in Chin State. If the AA had not cleared Paletwa of the military council, there would have been no way to liberate Matupi. Kindwey would not have been liberated at all. Kanpetlet would not have been liberated. Mintat would not have been liberated. We would not have been liberated anywhere along the Lai Lin Pi. With their (military council) forces numbering in the thousands, sending just 200, 300 reinforcements would have been very difficult for us. It is impossible to liberate Chin State to this extent,” he said.
Salai Yaw Mang said that since the Arakan Army (AA) captured Paletwa Township from the military council, the Chin Brotherhood group was able to capture other towns. In addition to military assistance from the AA, the Chin Brotherhood group has also captured Kyin dwey, Matupi, Kanpetlet, Mintat, and Falam with its own forces. Salai Yaw Mang continued, “The elimination of the military council in Paletwa is important for the Chin Brotherhood (CB), as it is for the Arakan Army (AA), for the liberation of Rakhine State.”
“Paletwa is the national security of the AA. What can I say about the AA? You can say that it is not inferior to the Confederates, you can say that it is independent, whatever you want. But the most important thing for the AA is national security and national interests. The biggest threat to that security is Paletwa. If the military council regains its foothold in Paletwa, the liberation of the entire Rakhine state and the security of the entire Rakhine state will be threatened. What I mean is that the entrance to Rakhine state can be controlled in Magway-Ann, Bago-Taungkot and Ayeyarwady-Gwet, but if the military council regains its position in Paletwa with all its strength, it will not be able to do anything. The landing of about 500 military council soldiers in Paletwa is equivalent to an offensive of about 5,000 from Taungkot and Ann. The AA must control Paletwa as a security strategy for the Rakhine region,” he said.
Chin Brotherhood (CB) was under constant attack from the Military council in Chin State, and no one could help them, and in the end, AA gained strength and morale. When it comes to the Paletwa issue, only the ground will decide, and the wishes and rights of the local people are important, said Chin Brotherhood spokesman Salai Yaw Mang.
The Arakan Army, also had to endure the Paletwa region after being told and hated, and in the future, the Paletwa issue will only be discussed at a round table, Chin Brotherhood said. Chin Brotherhood officials said at a press conference on June 18 that they also accept that Paletwa region is part of Chin State.
