A KNLA Commander confirmed that the Karen National Liberation Army -KNLA joint forces captured and cleared two camps of the Karen National Union (KNU) in Kawkareik Township, Duplaya District (south of Myawaddy) in one day on May 30, 2025. The two camps are located in the KNU-Kawkareik Township Administrative Area, near the Thai-Myanmar border.

The KNLA soldiers at Maokhee (Maokhee) camp fled at 10 a.m. today, while the KNLA soldiers at Thoo Choy (Bayint Naung) camp fled on the night of May 28, according to a KNLA commander on the ground. “When we entered the camp at Kanay Lay, we had 120mm and 2mm. After Kanay Lay fell, the Maokee camp stopped providing them with artillery support. Since the troops in Tho Choy have been fleeing since the 28th, they have been in disarray and all the military council soldiers have fled,” the commander confirmed.

Maokee camp was once attacked by KNLA forces in March 2022, but at that time the military council troops had retreated with more than 200 troops. In addition, at the time of the current camp capture, there were only about 30 military council members in the Maokee camp, while only 27 Military Council members were stationed in the Karen-known Tho Choy (Bayint Naung) camp, according to the commander on the ground.

Thus, the KNLA allied forces have been continuously occupying military council bases in the 6th Brigade area on the Thai-Myanmar border, and the current Ukrit Hta main support base, The source said that the Wale Strategic Camp and the Tee Baw Boe Defensive Camp still remain.
