A wedding ceremony held by locals in Kyungyi village, Kyaukgyi Township, Bago Region was unprovoked by the Military Council at around (8:00am) on May 25, 2025 killing 12 locals, including the bride and groom, and injuring around 20 others.
“It was a village wedding. There was a large crowd, so it must have been reported. The plane didn’t come over and shoot. It just came straight at the house,” said a local man. Two children, aged 6 and 10, were among the dead. Kyungyi village, which was bombed by the military, is a large village and not a frequent area of fighting, according to locals.
