Lt. Col. Wai Lin Htun, the commander of the Military Council Battalion (268) in Falam, Chin State, where fighting is intense, was killed in action on March 17, military sources said. Reinforcements were sent on March 16 to prevent the fall of Battalion 268, the last remaining base of the Military Council, which was surrounded and attacked by rebel groups, and the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Wai Lin Htun, was killed the next day on March 17.

A military source said, “The previous day, Lt. Col. Min Khant Aung led the 391st Light Infantry Battalion to Falam by helicopter. The helicopter only landed twice, and it was able to replenish its strength by more than 50 people, but it was not fully deployed. The next day, on the 17th, Lt. Col. Wai Lin Htun, the battalion commander of (Chamber-268), was killed in action.”

The deceased, Lieutenant Colonel Wai Lin Htun, a battalion commander from Falam (Chamber-268), was a 46th-year graduate of the Military Academy and was in his 40s. The funeral is currently being held at his home in Mawlamyine, CDM Captain Zin Yaw told some media outlets. The revolutionary forces have also entered the last remaining camp of the Military Council in Falam town, Chamber 268, and have captured many points, causing the Military Council to drop hundreds of bombs from the air.

The Chin State and allied groups have been attacking Falam since November 9, 2024, and have captured all the Military Council camps in Falam. It is reported that the offensive is fierce to capture the last remaining camp of the Military Council, Chamber-268.
