A three-week anti-government uprising led by Gen Zs in Madagascar has left President Andry Rajoelina in a state of emergency after the military finally defied a presidential order to stage a coup. The Indian Ocean island nation has been in a state of emergency for three weeks, with Gen Zs demanding the president’s resignation amid widespread dissatisfaction with the country’s government buildings and the homes of government leaders, including frequent power cuts.
President Andry Rajoelina not only resigned but also ordered the military to take over the government, but also joined forces with the Gen Z youth revolutionaries in a coup. President Andry Rajoelina announced on the night of October 13 that he had fled for his life before seizing the state-owned television station.
It is not known where President Andry Rajoelina fled to, but reports suggest he was evacuated by a French plane after asking for help from French President Macron. Currently, a new leader has been appointed to the Capsat army, and the defense minister has accepted the Gen Z-favorite military leader’s appointment, promising to elect a new president and government through popular elections.
Around the world, governments have been toppled by Gen Z this year, with Gen Z winning victories in Morocco, Peru, Indonesia, Kenya, and the Philippines. Most recently, in Nepal, a government was overthrown by Gen Z. Political analysts believe that the anti-government protests of Gen Z around the world spread quickly on social media, leading to the overthrow of dictators and governments.
