Arakan Army (AA) spokesman U Khaing Thu Kha also confirmed to the media that 13 people were killed, more than 20 injured and 12 houses damaged in the bombing of Tun yawai village in Yathetaung Township. The 13 dead included a 6-year-old child and a 10-year-old child, as well as women.

“The Military council dropped two 500-pound bombs. There are about 200 houses in this village. It is not a military-related village. The military council dropped bombs on the villagers who were living peacefully. There may be more dead among the rubble, so the number may be higher than the current number,” said a resident of Yathedaung.

The Military council also bombed Laik Kha Maw village in Kyauk Phyu Township with a drone at around 4 a.m. on May 13, burning the Laik Kha Maw monastery to ashes. Although the military council has declared a ceasefire until May 31, citing the earthquake as an excuse, it continues to bomb Rakhine, Sagaing, Karenni, and Karenni states daily.

Yesterday, May 12, at around 10 am, the Military Council bombed a school in Oh Theng Kwen village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Division, killing 22 children, including two teachers, and injuring at least 60 others.
