The military leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing reiterated that the door to peace is always open to resolve political problems through political means. The military leader made the remarks in a message sent to mark the 78th anniversary of the Union Day on February 12. He added that while there may be differences of opinion among individuals when establishing a multi-party democracy, demanding demands through armed means is the wrong path, and misunderstandings and conflicts can only be resolved through dialogue.

The military leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing also urged local ethnic groups to encourage the armed groups to find a political solution through negotiations. He also accused some foreign countries of turning the internal conflict in Myanmar into a regional conflict.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said on January 31 that 6,231 civilians had been killed by the Myanmar military council in the past four years. It also points out that the Myanmar military’s violent attacks and killings have increased in both number and severity over the past year.
