The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on January 6 that it has provided nearly eight billion kyats (7.7) to people, including war refugees, across the country during the one-year period from January 1 to December 31, 2024. Of this, over 3,200 million kyats were provided to Sagaing Region, 1,700 million kyats to Magway Region, 804 million kyats to Mandalay Region, 500 million kyats to Bago Region, and over 120 million kyats to Shan and Rakhine States.

This includes over five thousand million kyats (5,073 million) for displaced war refugees, over one thousand million (1,295 million) for those affected by natural disasters, over 445 million (405 million) for those killed and injured in armed conflicts, over 80 million kyats as emergency humanitarian assistance for CDM staff, 46 million in emergency humanitarian assistance for political prisoners and their families.

The Ministry has provided support in eight sectors, including sector-specific and regional assistance in 2024. NUG also expressed its respect and honor for the people who have endured the multifaceted crisis in the four years of the revolution, and urged them to continue to work together with unwavering determination to completely overthrow the military dictatorship.

As of December 16, 2024, more than three and a half million people across Myanmar have been displaced, and the humanitarian situation is expected to worsen, UNOCHA reported on January 3.
