Locals say more than 1,000 people from about 10 villages have fled after the Military council bombed villages in southern Kalay Township of Sagaing Region on February 9, 2025. Locals say the villages include Sedaw, Yangyi Aung, Kyaw Ywa, Shia Pho, Mantaw, Du Nwe, Kyauk Phu, Tin Tha, Kuk Ko, Ashih Si and Kyan Tha. A man from Tin Thar village was killed and four others were injured in the airstrike yesterday, and some homes were damaged, according to local residents.
A war refugee aid worker said those who have fled are in need of assistance. “Many people are fleeing because of the airstrike. They have to flee all the time, so they need food, clothes, and shelter. They also need blankets because it is still cold at night. They are afraid to go back to their villages because the airstrikes are coming frequently,” a relief worker said.
On the last February 2, in Kalay Township, a man was killed and another local resident was injured when the Military council bombed Tin Thar village from the air. On January 31, the military council bombed a refugee camp in Kukko village, Kalay Township, killing 11 people, including children and pregnant women, according to local residents.
