Locals in Tuitum village in Tonzang Township have heard that no one dared to stay in the village after CDF-Tonzang ordered all villagers to leave before 12 noon on May 8. “After 12 noon on May 8, the CDF-Tonzang issued an order that no one should stay in Tuitum village, so all the villagers who remained in the village had to leave. The remaining people are now stranded in the village because they have no other place to stay. I am very sad to be evicted from my home, my land, and my village,” said a young man from Tonzang Township.
Tuitum village is located at the northern entrance of Tonzang town. During the battle to capture Tonzang town that began on the last May 16, 2024, the Chinland Council (CC) joint forces had to pass through the village to launch an offensive, and it was also the village that ZRA-EC forces had to pass through when they advanced into Tonzang town.
“More than a week ago, CDF-Tonzang also confiscated the ambulance of the ZYA-Tuitum team in the village. The car could not be repaired, and it had not been used for a long time, so it could not even start. They dragged it into Tonzang town with a big truck. We do not know why,” a Tuitum villager continued to learn about the incident that occurred in the past few days.
“Now, no one lives in the village. They don’t dare to live there anymore. We have left our houses and farms here and there. We are just taking shelter in the nearby areas,” the young man from Tuitum Township continued. It is also known that the Tuitum village, which was established in 1870 and is over 150 years old, had about 80 houses before the Chinland Council (CC) joint forces’ battle to capture Tuitum in the past May 2024.
