The revolutionary joint forces completely captured 4 strategic camps where the Military Commission and the Pyu Saw Htee were based in Kanbalu district, Sagaing Region, from late January to early February, resulting in 96 deaths and 38 injuries for the military commission. The No. (1) Military Region announced on February 11 that 101 prisoners, including a Lieutenant Colonel, were captured alive.
The revolutionary forces attacked and captured the Ko Taung Bok, Pe Gyi, and Ngam Pyaw Tain village camps in Kanbalu township and the In Tain village camp in Kyun Hla township. Among these camps, Lt. Col. Aung Myo Oo, a member of the military commission, was captured alive while capturing the Pe Gyi and Ngam Pyaw Tain village camps.
Along with him, 187 weapons, The battle was the largest single-day loss of ammunition for the Myanmar Military Commission in the region, with 24,652 rounds of ammunition and 530 grenades captured. The Myanmar Military Commission launched 41 airstrikes, using jet fighters, Y-12s, and Gyrocopters, as well as kamikaze drones, to prevent the camps from being relinquished, but the rebels were able to completely take control of all the camps.
Kanbalu District is located on the Shwebo-Myitkyina highway, which is a key route for the Myanmar Military Commission to transport reinforcements and supplies to Kachin State. Military analysts believe that the captured villages of Ko Taung Bok and Indain are strategic locations on that route, cutting off the Myanmar Military Commission’s supply line.
