The Military Commission and the Chin Revolutionary Joint Forces, which have been advancing to Falam town in northern Chin State, have been engaged in fierce fighting, with the Military Commission reportedly suffering casualties. Since January 20, the Military Commission and the Chin Joint Forces, which have been advancing with a convoy of 200 to 300 troops via the Kalay-Taingen road, have been engaged in fierce fighting between the villages of Balong and Zawngkawng on January 26.
“We are attacking their line from our side, near Zawngkawng village. There are many casualties on their side. We don’t know exactly. The fighting was fierce yesterday. There was none yesterday. But fighting is possible at any time,” said Salai Nai John Kim, spokesman for the Chinland Council, Chin State Government, and Defense Department.
The Military commissioners’ forces were attacked by the Chin Revolutionary Joint forces near Zawngkawng village, including a mortar attack, and the Military commissioners suffered casualties, but the exact number is not yet known, said Salai Nai John Kim and CNO/CNDF spokesman Salai Tin Mi. The Military commissioners have increased their use of drone attacks in the fighting, and the military commissioners may be able to advance into Falam town in three columns, Salai Tin Mi said.
“We see that the military commissioners are using drones a lot. They are also using FPV suicide drones. This reinforcement column is likely to head towards Falam along the main road. Falam seems to be preparing to enter in three columns,” said Salai Tin Mi, CNO/CNDF spokesman.
The Military Commission, which has been conducting an offensive against Falam town since early November 2025 with a force of 800-1000 troops using heavy air support through the Kalay-Taingen-Falam and Kalay-Weibula-Falam routes, is said to have deployed hundreds more troops on January 20 after suffering heavy casualties, being captured, fleeing, and being hit by lightning.
The Military Commission troops are said to have set up strong bases in the surrounding forests and mountains in the villages of Khuangli and Sumhrang, 13 miles northwest of Falam town, and are preparing for war. In the nearly 3 months of fighting, the Military Commission troops have used heavy air support using Y-12s and jet fighters, with over 1,500 airstrikes, and drones are now being used more in the reinforcement line.
The Chin Revolutionary Joint forces also suffered casualties in the fighting in Falam town, There are casualties. In the said clashes, the Chin National Army (CNA), a member of the Chinland Council, and the Chin Brotherhood (CB), a member of the Chin National Defense Force (CNDF), are reportedly fighting against the Military commission forces.
