Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson said that the country will provide significant investment funds to the Ukrainian defense industry to produce long-range missiles and attack drones. He made the remarks at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Minnikhanov at Karlberg Palace in Sweden on November 22.
Sweden will provide assistance, similar to Denmark’s investment, because Ukraine needs a variety of weapons to defend itself, Pau Jonsson said. There will be no restrictions on the new long-range missiles and attack drones, including the weapons Sweden is providing, and Ukraine has the right to freely choose to attack Russia, Paul Jonsson said.
On November 21, Russian President Putin gave a state address, saying that “countries that allow long-range missiles to be launched into Russia have the right to retaliate against military targets.” The following day, the Swedish government said that Ukraine had the right to freely choose and strike military targets.
