The Ayeyarwady Regional Military Department – Ayeyarwady PDF has been formed in collaboration with the National Unity Government, Ministry of Defense, People’s Defense Force, Southern Military Region, Military Region No. 2, and the People Defense Front.

When the AA attacked and occupied almost the entire Rakhine State, the People’s Defense Army under the NUG officially announced the formation of the Ayeyarwady Divisional Division (PDF), and the fighting in Ayeyarwady Division is likely to intensify soon, said a People’s Defense source.
“Actually, the Ayeyarwady Divisional Division has only just been officially announced. In fact, the infiltration has been going on for more than a year. As for the ethnic group, as far as we know, there are units trained by the AA and many others trained by the KNU. By joining forces with both ethnic groups, there could be battles to capture towns and camps in Ayeyarwady Division. At the time of the announcement, it was made when the groups were actually on the ground,” said a People’s Defense source.
Some revolutionary sources said that the AA is launching a fierce offensive to capture Gwe Township, and the revolutionary forces are likely to enter Ayeyarwady Division from that direction. “If the AA takes over the entire Gwe Township, the PDFs under the AA will move down towards the Ayeyarwady River. I don’t think this can be avoided,” said a revolutionary source.
