The entire Military Council army column that entered the Ohdwin Township of Bago Region was destroyed, 50 soldiers were killed, and 7 weapons and ammunition were seized, said Soldier Thitsa, the head of the military affairs department of the Tharyawaddy District.
At around 5:50 pm on January 28, the 150-strong army column from the 6th Division Central Artillery, which had set out from Pauk Kaung to clear the area, was intercepted by the Revolutionary forces in Pyaung Chaung village on the Ohdwin-Pauk Kaung Road in Ohdwin Township.
During the battle, about 50 soldiers from the revolutionary forces were killed and the column fled. The revolutionary forces cleared the column. In addition, 4 comrades from the Revolutionary forces were killed and 5 were slightly injured during the battle.
The Military Council army also seized 1 MA 2 gun, 2 MA1 guns, 2 MA3 guns, 1 RPG 7, 1 60 commando, 3,000 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 580 rounds of 7.62 G3 ammunition, 32 rounds of ammunition, 8 RPG shells, 7 RPG booster cartridges, 8 60 mm rounds, 19 40 mm rounds, 19 Inagas, 24 hand grenades, 42 14 mines, 2 forward mines, 1 intercom, 1 Sterling band, 1 meter board, 1 generator, 20 gasoline cans, 4 keypad phones, 11 phones, 19 knives, Military backpacks, 14 helmets, and many Military council uniforms were seized.
“About 50 military council died in the fighting. The military council unit was destroyed. A lot of weapons and ammunition were also seized during the fighting,” said Revolutionary Soldier Thitsa in charge of military affairs in Tharyawaddy District.
The attack was carried out by the 3601 Battalion, Company-4 under the 3611 Command, the 3701 Battalion, Company-2 and the 3701 Battalion, Company-6 under The Tharawaddy District PDF Drone Unit, Pyay District PDF Combat Unit, and Yangon Region PDF Combat Unit-7 Company-1 attacked.
The Military Council army column arrived at Pyay-Pauk Kaung with a strength of 120 from the 6th Division Central Artillery and was reinforced with 30 troops and entered the Ohdwin-Pauk Kaung road section from January 20 to clear the area.
