The Military Commission has again bombed Mawchi area in Hpa saung Township, Karenni State, causing civilian casualties, according to local residents. A local said that three areas in Mawchi area were bombed by jet fighters three times at around 9:30 am today, November 21.

“The plane flew over at around 9:30 am. There was fog. At that time, it was flying over our area. One landed there. They landed in other areas as well. There were about four in total,” said a local man. Five men were killed in the bombing, and their ages and other injuries are still being investigated.

“Only five people have been confirmed dead. There are also injured. The number of people is not yet known. The five deaths are all men. We also know that there are elderly women among the injured,” said an official from Jobs For Kayah, a refugee aid group. Locals said the airstrikes were carried out in areas where there was no fighting and were only civilians.

In August, the military commission carried out three airstrikes in the Mawchi region, which was also free of fighting, killing more than 30 people. The military commission has carried out 18 airstrikes in the Mawchi region since 2025.
