The CDF-Matupi Brigade (1), Brigade (2) and the Matu Chin Ministers’ Fellowship are expected to hold a tripartite meeting in December to resolve the conflict in Matupi Township, southern Chin State. The Matu Chin Ministers’ Fellowship Peace Committee has met twice with CDF-Matupi Brigade 1 and Brigade 2 in October and will hold a tripartite meeting in December if funding is available.
“We met in October to resolve our differences. We hope to hold a tripartite meeting in December if funding is available. We are confident that we will resolve the differences, but not with others,” said Pastor Joshua, a member of the Matu Chin Ministers’ Fellowship.
During the ground meeting, both parties expressed their desire for peace and harmony, that only the people of Matupi should have the right to decide on the Matupi issue, that they want a ceasefire and trust-building, and that they want to form a One Army, One Budget & One Command without any territorial division, as originally stated in a statement issued by the Matupi Ministers’ Association on November 28.
In addition, they especially want the public to stop spreading fake news and misinformation on social media, attacking each other, and talking about bloodshed to break the spirit, and that the news that is not released by the relevant Brigade 1 and Brigade 2 is fake news. In Mizoram, 9 ministers representing more than 10,000 displaced people and more than 60 ministers were formed as members of the Peace Committee in July.
The peace committee members were sent to the ground last October and met with relevant organizations to ensure that the people of Matupi, who were displaced by the war in the border area, could return to their homes as soon as possible and to achieve reconciliation between Brigade 1 and Brigade 2 as soon as possible.
