A military official from the Khanti People’s Defense Force told Yangon Times that two clashes between the military and the rebel forces in Khanti Township, Sagaing Region, killed 22 soldiers and captured 3, and weapons and ammunition seized.

At around 4 pm on November 22, a 30-strong terrorist army column advancing towards Chaung Sang Kwa in Khamti Township and the Naga People’s Defense Force (NPDF) and the Khamti People’s Defense Force engaged in a clash. The clash lasted for more than 2 hours, starting at around 4 pm and ending at around 6:15 pm.

In the clash, 5 members of the terrorist council were killed on the spot and 8 others were injured. It is reported that 2 of the injured SAC soldiers were being transported from Padumon Port to Khamti at around 7 pm, and the remaining 6 died while receiving treatment at the hospital on November 23.

In addition, 3 SAC soldiers were captured alive along with 2 MA-1 rifles and 1 MA-2 rifle. On the morning of November 24, the joint forces of the Naga People’s Defense Force and the Khamti People’s Defense Force intercepted the military column that was advancing towards the three-way crossing, and 5 MMRC soldiers were killed on the spot and 7 were injured in the battle. The 7 injured SAC soldiers were transported from Natsalin Chaung to Namkhamar Chaung, and 4 more SAC soldiers were transported to Khamti at around 2 pm via the Namkhamar Chaung junction.

“On the 24th, the fighting lasted all day, starting at 5 am. The war dogs fired heavy weapons. The fighting lasted almost the whole day and ended at 4 pm. Those who were captured are being well taken care of in accordance with the rules of the military. We, the NPDF, are conducting the fighting. We are also preparing to do our best in the future. There are costs involved in conducting the fighting. There are many needs, so we are conducting a lottery program. We would like to encourage you to participate and help meet the needs,” said an official from the Khamti People’s Defense Force.
